Fil Maria is one of the only perfumers who has not become obsessed with perfume, while running through a flower field as a child. He started in the leather industry and worked his way into independent perfumery through an array of coincidences and bad recommendations. What drives him are is the pursuit of creating the most narcotic potions imaginable. The bottomline is simple, make products people endear and love, everything else is not important. 

Instead of trying to be innovative, he focuses on things he knows well, things that work and ideas that are viable. “I want to make the best product possible, from real ingredients, with real people and support those that have supported me from the beginning.” 

“There will never be anything new, all imaginable perfumes have already been made in my mind and I draw inspiration from the things that linger in my thoughts”

“I do not get inspired by much, neither by other peoples work, as I am isolated to the extent that I do not get the chance to smell anything” 

Fil Maria’s first brainchild was MAS RIVERA, based in the post colonial settings of Vietnam, a nostalgic reminder of the past. Influenced by place, time and season. The available natural materials are mostly coming from the country itself. There is a nostalgia that awakes on the streets, a thousand impulses and so many other fantastic things to enjoy and explore. Mas Rivera is a story of a soul journey through Southeast Asia, a spirit that lives and learns the more it wanders. 

“It was important to me that all perfumes of Mas Rivera are wearable. I wanted something unconventional, something you would forget was even there at times, but always came back to surprise you in simple moments throughout the day.” 

The collection respects the past, while embracing modern materials and methods of execution. A core collection, solely focussed on making your life better every single day. It is for everyone, it has to be for everyone, it is conceptualised with everyone in mind. Most perfumes of Mas Rivera are base note heavy and are ought to change throughout the day, explaining this would take too much time, but you get the idea.
